Violin
Since graduating from the Royal Northern College of Music, Kate has enjoyed a busy and varied freelance career. Her experience as a founding member of the prize-winning Heath Quartet fostered a love of chamber music and a deep interest in musical relationships. She has many year’s experience playing with chamber and symphony orchestras, including Royal Northern Sinfonia, Britten Sinfonia, London Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia, and London Chamber Orchestra amongst others.
She has been lucky enough to tour Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Scandinavia with these groups, which has provoked a curiosity about musical and cultural differences. It has become and important mission to find a way to not only perform to people, but to communicate with people through music, which has led to her training at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, to be come a music therapist. She has taught violin and chamber music at the junior GSMD since 2008.
